Fall Festival
PTA would like to thank everyone who came to the Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 9th. It was a great day to share with our friends and family. A big thank you to all the vendors, volunteers and our staff that were there to support our school!
Battle of the Books
5th and 6th Graders can sign up to compete in the Battle of the Books. There are 12 selected titles that the teams must read over the course of 3 different battles. Our first battle was held on Tuesday, Nov. 17th. The next battles will be on February 9th and April 20th. Below are some pictures from the first competition.
Grants
Washington PTA is currently applying for a partnership program/grant with Home Depot to revitalize our garden and shed. The plans include building more raised beds in the existing garden, and a water system. The shed would get a new door and this would be a great place to keep our tools. Currently, the garden is tended to by several primary classes at Washington.
Library News
We just finished up with our Book Fair and it is always a big hit with the students. We were open at Fall Festival and the entire week afterward. It's a lot of work, but with our great volunteers, we did it! Thanks to all who helped! Here is a picture of our Book Fair.

READ FOR THE RECORD DAY
Our 2nd grade classes went to Rhodes Jr. High on October 8th to participate in Read for the Record Day. The Very Hungry Caterpillar was the book of choice. In addition, they paired with Rhodes' students to make a bookmark. Walmart at Country Club and Baseline, Waldenbooks in Fiesta Mall, A+ Book Fairs and Scholastic all donated books to the event. Each child went home with a book of their own, stamped on the inside with a note that says "A Gift From Rhodes Jr High". Rhodes PTA also made a sizable donation to BTW's library. THANK YOU!!
