My class room MUST be a safe place both physically and emotionally!
Be on time!
Promptness is important, not just in the theater, but in all jobs! After two unexcused tardies, students will lose 2 daily participation points for each tardy. Chronic tardiness WILL effect your grade.
Be prepared!
Bring whatever materials you will need for class! You should have a folder and a writing utensil at all class sessions. Don't forget your scripts, if that applies to you.
Attend regularly!
It is so much fun in my class, you won't want to miss a thing! However, if you must, please make sure you find out what you missed and you will be given one day for each day absent to complete any assignments you missed. HOWEVER......if you are scheduled to perform the day you are absent, you MUST have a parent or guardian call my class room directly and let me know. This way I can adjust schedules or get people to understudy if necessary. This includes in-class performances. My class phone number is 472-2787 .
Be Responsible
try to complete personal tasks between classes, but when you absolutely can't, I allow two "I Gotta Go NOW!" passes per quarter. These can be used for those little emergencies to the rest room or locker, etc. I will distribute these at the beginning of each quarter. Students are responsible to keep them. These are not refundable or transferrable...but at the end of the quarter, you may return any unused passes for 5 points extra credit. When you need to use one, you simply ask my permission, and if it is an appropriate time in class, I will grant it (I sound like a Queen!!) and then you fill out the pass, have me initial it...and off you go! You have 5 minutes to complete your business. Sound fair? It is!
Participate and be positive!
You have heard the popular phrase "Attitude is everything." It is! Make an honest effort, have fun, laugh at your own mistakes, support each other. This class is meant to be enriching, inspiring, and a nice break from the academics. However, it only happens if you are an active participant! Make sure you are adding to the success of the class, rather than detracting from it!
