Welcome to my humble little area of cyber-space. My name is Patrick McDonnell. I have been living and teaching in Arizona since 1989. My wife, Trish, moved to Arizona from New York, almost 16 years ago. I taught for four years at St. Catherine of Sienna, catholic school from 1989 to 1993. In 1993, I began teaching in the Roosevelt School District. I taught for 7 years, 1993-1999, at Curtis O. Greenfield Middle School, in Phoenix. I taught for one year, 2000, in the Tempe Elementary School District, at Gilliland Middle School. In 2001, I found my way to Stapley Junior High School.
I was born and raised in Astoria, New York. I went to Archbishop Molloy High School, home of the Stanners. After high school I attended Westchester Community College. I earned an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Mathematics and Science. My next stop along my educational career was St. John's University, in NY. I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. The last stop on my educational super highway was Northern Arizona University, where I earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.
My hobbies are a little different than most people. Some would call them strange hobbies. In 1990 I started officiating high school sports. I am beginning my 19th season as a football official, my forth years as a fastpitch umpire. I have had a few accomplishments in each sport. I have officiated 3 state semi-finals and 2 state championship game. My crew work last years 2A state championship game. This summer I was able to work my first National Tournament. I worked the 16u Triple Crown World Series, in Park City, Utah. My hobby that takes up much of my spare time is Karate. I am Studying Jhun Rhea style Tae Kwan Do at Arizona Best Karate, along with my son Thomas. We are both brown belts. Our goals are to earn our conditional black belts in late May of 2010.
I also coach Freshman Softball. The 2004 season was my first season and a very enjoyable season. I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year, in 2010.
