3.  Homework Policy

In order to adequately master the course material, expect a minimum of thirty minutes of homework two to three nights per week.   The homework generally falls into the following categories:

-       Reinforcement as a follow-up to what has been accomplished

         in class

-       Preparation for tests and specific assignments involving

         reading, researching, writing, and studying

-       Writing  rough drafts, final drafts, or word processing to

complete or apply processes started in class.  Some

components of the writing process become homework to

allow students to be able to complete assignments by due

        dates.

4.  Late Work Policy

Each student will be given four late work passes per quarter in the event he/she is not able to complete an assignment by the due date.  Each pass assigns a grade percentage for the work.  The first two passes are worth 70%, the third 60%, and the fourth pass is worth 50%.  The late work pass must be attached to the late assignment and submitted by the expiration date for credit.  If at the end of the quarter the student has turned in all assignments on time and no passes were used, he/she can redeem the passes for ten extra credit points.  The teacher has discretion on which assignments are eligible for late work passes.
