Biography
Long before Indiana Jones, I had decided I wanted to know more about mummies, pyramids and all things Egyptian. Being an archaelogist was a possibility, but instead I decided to follow the road that lead me into the classroom. There, I could share my love of history with students. For two years I attended Trinity College in Deerfield, Ill. before transfering to Northern Arizona University where I received my degree in Social Science. Over the years I have taken over 40 credit hours of both history and education classes. I am also designated as a highly qualified teacher in History. My teaching career began back in my hometown of Zion, Ill.. where I taught until my first daughter was born. Three daughters, 12 years, and a move from Illinois in 1984 found my family living in Mesa . My reintroduction to education started at Poston Jr. High where I worked as a part time tutor in the Native American Program. I also co-sponored the Native American Club there for several years. Soon I began to teach histsory full time. In 1994, I left Poston and took a position at Mesa's brand new Junior High, Stapley. After fourteen years, I can say it has been a tremendous pleasure to be part of the staff here at SJH. Over the years my classes have been filled with so many wonderful students whose parents care and support the education their children are receiving. Stapley is a very unique school and I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else.
Today, my daughters are grown and it's just my husband, dog and two birds at home. One of my favorite things to do is to travel.....especially to Europe. This summer I went with Mrs. Evans on the two week tour she sponored to Paris, Florence, Rome, Athens and a three day cruise of the Aegean. It was an incredible trip!
