Biography
Ms. Diane Furnish is beginning her eleventh year as a Counselor at Stapley. She brings a variety of experiences to her position. She taught fourth grade at Redbird Elementary for four years and Field Elementary for two years. She also taught in the Peoria School District for five years before coming to Mesa. She has been the “Head Counselor” at Stapley for the past nine years where she enjoys working with a seasoned team of counselors and teachers.
Ms. Furnish’s philosophy is that today’s young people are living in an exciting time, with new technologies and expanding opportunities, in an increasingly diverse society. To help insure that they are prepared to become the next generation of workers, leaders, and citizens, every student needs support, guidance and a chance to expand both personally and developmentally. The counseling and guidance program at Stapley strives to follow this philosophy, by maximize the potential of all students, helping them to become responsible members of society, and preparing them to serve as a foundation for their future success and for future generations.
Diane is a fourth generation Arizonan and has seen many changes in the state she loves. She enjoyed growing up on her family’s farm in rural Laveen with two brothers. She loves the outdoors where she hikes and rides horses with her friends and family whenever time permits. She is an avid reader, has fun with politics, loves to travel to far away places, and enjoys her family, three grown children and eight adorable grandchildren.
