Get to know the Director!
Music defines me! Trumpet is my primary instrument and I have been playing for 16 years. There are several ensembles, both professional and amateur, that I have performed in through out the years and they range from small brass quintets to large concert bands, wind ensembles, outdoor
marching bands and staged brass ensembles.
You could say I am an Arizona Native, having primarily grown up in the state, but I was born in Lubbock, Texas and still consider myself a "Texas girl" at heart. I grew up in the Scottsdale School District going to school at Tonalea, Supai and Coronado High School, but the first house I lived in with my family in Arizona was in Mesa; it is nice to be back to this part of The Valley.
In May of 2008 I graduated from Arizona State University with my B.M. in Instrumental Music Education. At ASU I performed in the ASU Sun Devil Marching Band (3 years), Wind Ensemble (3 years; 2 as principal trumpet), the Wind Symphony (1 year) and the Jazz Preporatory Band (1 year).
I began performing as a trumpet player in non-school related ensembles when I joined the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in 2003. While at The Vanguard for 4 years, I performed as a featured soloist and also held leadership positions. During that time, I had the opportunity to travel around the United States performing and competing against several other drum corps.
This past fall I had the amazing opportunity to travel the country of Japan performing in a stage show called "Odyssey", featuring an all- female cast of brass musicians, percussionists, and dancers. While in the show I performed on Trumpet and Piccolo Trumpet.

During my free time I enjoy performing with the Tempe Wind Ensemble under the direction of Doc Mike Willson, and everything music!
Although this is my first year teaching in a public education music classroom, I have been teaching for the past 6 years in several different musical ensembles nation-wide. I have been involved with the Drum and Bugle Corps activity through DCI (Drum Corps International) for 7 years now as a member and instructor. The current drum corps I am a part of is the Blue Stars from La Crosse, Wisconsin; this is my second year on staff as their trumpet technician. I also taught private trumpet lessons for the past 5 years, having a studio of 2 to 12 students at any given time.
My short time at Stapley Jr High has been amazing so far! The staff are very supportive, the school community is very nice, and the students are incredible. Without their help and support in the classroom every day I would feel lost. Thank you!
Thank you for your patience with me for getting my website put together; it will be updated regularly.
