Dear Red Mountain Ranch Parents:

This morning, we received a letter from Health Effects Group Inc. regarding its third-party review of the recent air quality tests conducted at our school. In a letter on Feb. 25, I shared information with you that two tests for air quality were conducted in which no significant concerns were found.

Health Effects Group Inc. confirmed the findings of a Feb. 23 air quality test by Hutzel and Associates, saying the test results indicated the indoor air quality parameters were found to be “at acceptable indoor levels.” The letter also said the testing process followed the standard practices of industrial hygiene.

An earlier test performed on Feb. 4 by the district’s Operations Department had similar results with no indication of air quality concerns.

Please feel free to review the documents related to air quality at Red Mountain Ranch Elementary and related information. I have posted this on the school Web site at http://www2.mpsaz.org/rmre/. On the home page, click “Building Information” in the left navigation bar. The following is available for your review and will be updated with any new information:

  • Third-Party Review by Health Effects Group Inc.
  • Test Results by Hutzel and Associates Inc.
  • Questions and Answers on Red Mountain Ranch Elementary Indoor Air Quality
  • Environmental Protection Agency’s Building Air Quality Action Plan
  • Environmental Protection Agency’s “Should you have the air ducts in your home cleaned?”

When a concern is raised at any Mesa Public Schools site, the district quickly responds to review the situation and did so in this case. The health and safety of Red Mountain Ranch students and staff is one of our top priorities. Thank you for your continued support of our school.

Sincerely,

Joyce Cook
Principal
