Biography
Sergeant Major Kenneth E. Garcia was born in Los Angeles, California.
He was inducted in the U.S. Army in February 1968 and attended basic training at Fort Ord, California. Following Artillery Surveyor Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was assigned to XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. SGM Garcia has served in all leadership positions from Chief of Party, Chief Surveyor, Drill Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, Chief Training NCO (82C) Field Artillery Surveyor Course, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, and Chief Lesson Developer, Sergeants Major Academy.
Stateside assignments - Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Ord, California, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Bliss, Texas. Overseas assignments - two tours in Germany, one tour in Korea, and one tour in Hawaii. Combat tours - one tour in the Rebublic of Vietnam.
Military Schools - 82C Field Artillery Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Drill Sergeant School, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, and Class 32 Sergeants Major Academy .
Civilian Education - Associate of Science in Management, Hawaii Pacific College, and a Bachelor of Science in Management, Parks College.
Awards - Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Vietnam Civil Action Citation Medal, and the Bronze German Shooting Medal.
SGM Garcia has been the Army Instructor since its establishment on August 16, 1995.
