Spanish Club '09-10

At Red Mountain we have an active Spanish Club and I am its sponsor. We promote the understanding of Hispanic culture in the Southwest. Spanish Club participate in school activities such as the Tailgate, and we participate in service activities such as Relay for LIfe. Last year we sponsored a 5 de mayo Trivia contest and put up an ofrenda (altar) for el Dia de los Muertos. We also celebrated cultural days in our club such as el Dia de los Muertos and la Navidad. In 2008, we had a joint celebration at the end of the first semester with the French and German clubs in which we all brought food from our respective cultures; we had a great time. In April,  for Relay for Life, we raised over $300 and a had members that participated in the Relay. Our members were very touched and enthused by Relay for Life's celebration of Life. It was a great year. You don't have to speak Spanish to be a member of Spanish Club! Just be interested in Hispanic culture!

This year we hope to do even more dynamic cultural celebrations! We meet Mondays at 12:30 p.m in Room 270.
