HERO
Club Constitution
Purpose: The HERO Club is a vocational student organization
which is an important component of the cooperative
education class. It is affiliated with the Arizona
FCCLA organization, and as a result will encourage
members to participate in conferences and state run
events. Through club involvement students will learn
leadership skills, provide service for their school and
community, and will plan recognition/appreciation
activities for their cooperative education employers.
Officers: Any class member is qualified to run for the following
offices:
HERO Executive Board
2009-2010

The Red Mountain HERO Executive Board will consist of the seven to eight officers, and when feasible, your instructor. The board will plan agendas and work out preliminary as well as final details for projects the club carries out. This eliminates much wasted time in meetings. The board does not have the power to make major decisions that will affect the group members in significant ways without club discussion.
Regular intervals of class time will not be allocated for executive meetings, but the last 10 minutes of class can be used for that purpose, as the group deems necessary. Meeting agendas must be turned in the day prior to the meeting.
The duties of club officers are as follows:
President-Shelby Sterk
- Presides over HERO meetings and Executive Officer Council
- Approves all paper work for HERO
- Represents the chapter whenever necessary
- Prepares agenda by Thursday before each meeting
- Organizes and runs each meeting efficiently and uses parliamentary procedure
- Keeps members on the subject during meeting (remembers time limit)
- Does follow up on progress being made on all activities
- Coordinates chapter activities by keeping in close touch with the officers, the
membership, and the advisor
- Monthly evaluation and feedback to the club in meeting club goals
Vice President in Charge of Activities-Kailyn Casto
- Reviews all possibilities for social and community service activities
- Chairperson of standing committee
- May delegate chairpersonship of an individual activity but holds ultimate responsibility
for committee’s performance
- Organizes and runs each meeting of the activities committee
- See that committee reports are turned in to be placed on regular HERO meeting agendas
- Sees that the committee’s final report is turned in on each activity
Vice President in Charge of Publicity-Angeline Brocious
- Publicize all fundraising
- Sees that all activities are announced on RMTV
- Notify and work with yearbook to get pictures in yearbook
- Maintain club calendar
- Obtain and submit news release forms to proper channels (release the sent to local newspapers)
- Notify and work with school newspaper to get feature and pictures of HERO events published
- Chairperson of publicity committee
- Organizes and runs each meeting of the publicity committee
- In charge of publicity and activities to publicize Career and Technical Education Week
- Organizes teacher appreciation
Secretary-Danielle Falterman
- Attends to all official correspondence for club business
- Reads all pertinent correspondence to the chapter
- Keeps track of student participation
- Keeps list of chapter members and addresses
- Types minutes after each meeting
- Prepares and reads minutes after each meeting
- Keeps all materials and records organized
- Takes roll at meetings
Treasurer-monica Kelley
- Keeps track of and collects receipts for each event
- Makes deposits of any incoming money
- Prepares and has all purchase order forms needed signed by advisor
- Gives weekly financial report at the chapter meeting telling income and outgoing expenses
- Makes sure books balance monthly with bookstore account record
- Keeps financial ledger and Treasurer’s notebook organized with receipts, PO’s, and deposit
slips
- Works closely with student activities secretary
- Copies and keeps all purchase orders and invoices
Historian-Vanessa Leyva
- Organize and prepare end of the year club video
- Puts together HERO scrapbook
1st quarter-cover and format completed
2nd quarter-complete a page for each student
3rd quarter-complete a page for each activity and have ready to enter in State conference
4th quarter-finish the scrapbook by May 1st and take to Employer Appreciation luncheon
- Take or assign someone else to take pictures at all club events
- Select a convenient and economical company to develop film
- Have film developed (request funds first)
- Stay within budgeted money
Awards and Recognition-Jordiana Nelson
-Creates and presents all quarter awards for students
-Plans birthday celebrations (teacher approval)
-Plans holiday parties with social committer (teacher approval)
-Plans all activities wit in the classroom for celebrations with the social committee
-With club approval arranges quarter breakfast menus and budget
-Work closely with publicity committee
-Recognize any HERO member for anything that merits recognition
Duties and Responsibilities of all Members
- Attend all meetings
- Complete all the duties that your office or committee entails
- Be familiar with everyone’ duties and responsibilities
- Attend all activities
- Participates in all fundraising events
- Pay all bills to the chapter by the due dates
- Follow parliamentary procedure during all meetings
Membership: Membership will consist of all students enrolled in the HERO class. (FS 90)
Meetings will be held on Fridays in class. Since meetings are part of the curriculum there will be no problem with nonattendance or having a quorum present.
