Biography

Sandy Stones’ energy and enthusiasm are hard to beat!  Sandy has performed, taught theatre and directed numerous productions over the past 30 years.  Her passion of directing began as a youth as she accompanied her father to work at CBS where he was a sound engineer and camera man on The Carol Burnett Show, Price Is Right, Young and the Restless, and many other television productions. 

She began directing and performing at the age of 19 and went on to graduate from ASU as well as the Southwest Shakespeare Conservatory.  As an artistic director for Gilbert Fine Arts Association she ran their Theatrical Academy for Youth, directed their large main-stage musical productions and was instrumental in founding the Gilbert Youth Theater.

Sandy was a freelance director for many years working for various schools and theatre companies until she found her niche working at Mesa High School.  She teaches theatre arts, directs the Main Stage productions, co-directs the Speech and Debate team, runs Student Council and she is having a blast! 

In 2008-2009, Sandy Stones was proudly named Teacher of the Year by Wal Mart Inc.

Over the past five years she has been at Mesa High, the plays, musicals, musical numbers and one-acts Mesa High has performed have received Superior Ratings at Regional and State Competitions.  Three of Mesa High’s most recent Main Stage Fall productions earned “Best in State” and two were selected to perform for the Educational Theatre Association’s Arizona State Festival (State Thespian Festival) at the Phoenix Civic Plaza.  The production “Cash On Delivery” received “Best In State” and was invited to perform at Nationals.

The most important part of Sandy’s life is her extremely patient and loving family who puts up with all of her endless endeavors!  She wouldn’t be able to accomplish all that she does without their love and support.
