Longfellow Elementary Brag Sheet

* Longfellow Elementary was a United States Department of Education Blue Ribbon School in 2004.

* Longfellow made great improvements in test scores from 2001 to 2003.

* Longfellow was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant to fund an afterschool program for students in need of extra help.

 * Longfellow Elementary achieved a 91% attendance rate at parent conferences this year.

* Longfellow has achieved a customer satisfaction rating of 93% of the parents and staff.

* Longfellow has a modified calendar that is applauded by over 90% of the parents and staff.

* Longfellow Elementary has intersession classes during our Fall and Spring breaks, as well as four weeks of Summer school to provide students more opportunities to learn.

* Longfellow has daily opportunities to learn and use positive character traits, i.e., Words of Wisdom on the announcements each morning, reciting and following the Falcon Pledge, reciting and applying the preamble to the Declaration of Independence, monthly activities to use Character Traits to help build our school community, and Student of the Week to recognize  students in every classroom.

* An outstanding staff that goes the extra mile with after school programs, home visits, additional training, spending extra time to be connected with students outside our individual classroom, committee work to improve the school, and a love for learning that rises above the job.
