Targeted Student Interventions
While our primary role is to work with ALL students to help them achieve their academic and career goals, MPS school counselors are experts in using data. Our school counselors systematically intervene with targeted students in the following ways:
- Providing targeted students with credit recovery options
- Identifying and intervening with students failing multiple classes
- Identifying and intervening with failing Seniors
- Identifying and intervening with students with multiple absences
- Identifying and intervening with students with multiple discipline referrals
- Identifying and intervening with students who do not meet the standards on the AIMS test
- Identifying and intervening with students with potential for taking rigorous classes
- Identifying and helping first-generation college students
- Identifying students and helping students who might want to pursue non-traditional career pathways
- Identifying students for unique scholarship opportunities or educational programs
