Autobiography
Hola!
2009-2010 is my first year at Fremont Junior High where I teach Spanish I. It is extraordinary to see students so willing and eager to learn a new language and I congratulate those that have managed to amaze me. Bien hecho!!!
I recently moved here from Eagle Pass, Texas (where???). It is a small town right on the border with Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, where nachos were invented back in 1943. I was born in Mexico where I was raised until my family immigrated to the United States to pursue the famous American dream.
I graduated from Sul Ross State University with a B.A. in History and minor in Spanish. I have a Texas lifetime certification (grades 6-12) in Secondary History and Secondary Spanish as well as being a highly qualified teacher in Arizona
I taught Spanish and Texas History for Gifted and Talented students at Eagle Pass Junior High. Later, I moved to Memorial Junior High where I taught Pre Advanced Placement (Pre AP) Texas History and U.S. History (1607-1865) for the past ten years. As part of my extra-curricular activities, I have sponsored the National Junior Honor Society, the Ecology Club which conducted a student exchange program with secondary schools in Piedras Negras, Mexico, organized fundraising activities, sponsored the Young Explorers of Texas club, planned parental involvement meetings, and sponsored student trips to New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and St. Louis.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking, and traveling. I am married to Mauricio, he is the reason I moved to Arizona. It is great being here and look forward to a great school year.
GO FALCONS!
