Biography

photoMr. Beckert has worked in school adminstration for over 12 years and in teaching for over 22 years.  Currently assigned to Fremont, Mr. Beckert has also been assigned at Powell, Kino, Stapley, and West Middle School.  He also works as adjunct faculty teaching mathematics at a local community college.

A product of the Mesa school system, Mr. Beckert continues to give back to the community.

He is one of the nicest men on campus, but unfortunately has the toughest job of dealing with the "ugly and unfortunate situations".  We are glad he is here to help us by working to keep a safe place for us to learn.

Philosophy

"Working with youth for many years, I have learned a secret to getting the most from the educational opportunity and the social interactions encountered at school.

'Be WHERE you are supposed to be,
WHEN you are supposed to be there,
DOING what you are supposed to be doing.'

I have found that when students follow this simple tip, they are happier and have to deal with much smaller issues.

"I'm here to help students work through situations and learn from their experiences, good or bad.  When people find out that I work in the schools, I'm often asked what I teach.  I readily respond that I teach accountability and responsibility.  I teach that every choice we make has a consequence.  Good choices produce positive consequences while bad choices produce negative consequences.

"Sometimes, negative consequences are hard to accept, but often they are necessary so that we might learn valuable lessons.  This learning provides the wisdom necessary to make better choices to enjoy a more fruitful life."
