What career assessments are used to help my student prepare for his/her future?

Our Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Guidance and Counseling Departments are proud to present the Mesa Public Schools (MPS) Career Planning System (powered by Kuder). Mesa Public Schools students use the MPS Career Planning System to develop educational and career plans for personal success. For our Mesa students . . . There's no better place to plan!

Step 1: Contact your school counselor or CTE teacher for your free batch code.
Step 2: Create your own account by clicking on "New Users" to the right. If you have already created an account, click on "Existing Users" to begin using the MPS Career Planning System.

How can I make a financial donation to my student's school?

Arizona law provides a tax credit for contributions made to public schools in Arizona to support extra curricular activities. You can help MPS students and lower your tax bill with a contribution. The state tax credit is available to all taxpayers, and you do not need to have a child enrolled at MPS to take advantage of this state credit. Your neighbors, family, and friends can all take advantage of this savings and help our schools in the process.

A tax credit is different from a deduction because you may subtract the whole contribution from your Arizona state tax bill. An individual may contribute as much as $200, and a couple filing jointly as much as $400, per year. Your contribution will remain at the MPS school of your choice and will be used for student programs such as educational field trips, classroom enrichment, and after-school tutoring.

How can you make a contribution? Donation forms are available in the school offices or on the internet at http://www.mpsaz.org/main2/eca/index.html. Choose the school of your choice, complete the contribution form and return it with your payment, check or credit card, by the Web, mail, or by drop-off to the school. You will be mailed a receipt for your use at tax time. All contributions must be postmarked by December 31, 2007, to be eligible for this year's tax credit.

How can I get involved in Career & Technical Education?

Get involved with the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee for Mesa Public Schools. As part of Arizona's accountability system for Carl Perkins and State Block funding, Career and Technical Education is required to do a self-evaluation annually. Community input and expertise will enable us to determine the strengths and weaknesses of our programs and build partnerships between business, industry and education. If you are interested in being a part of our CTE Advisory Committee, please contact Marlo Loria, Director of CTE at (480) 472-0393.

What and when is Career & Technical Education month?

The month of February is CTE month. This month we make a special effort to promote CTE Pathways in Arizona's junior highs and high schools. In doing so, we hope to market the various CTE opportunities for students and increase student awareness of careers, education and training. Watch for activities at the individual schools that promote the importance of CTE in Arizona.
